Background
I hold a PhD in Natural Language Processing from the University of Porto, with a thesis on "Learning Word Sense Representations from Neural Language Models". I later worked as a Research Associate at Cardiff University, focusing on adapting Language Models for Social Media. My research has resulted in several first-author publications in top-tier venues (ACL, EMNLP, CL, AIJ, +800 citations).
Prior to my PhD, I founded a VC-backed startup, PepFeed, focused on content recommendation. I'm constantly looking for new applications unlocked from each AI advancement.
Currently, I'm a Senior ML Scientist at Zendesk, living in sunny Portugal where I get to spend time with my family. More details about my professional experience are available on LinkedIn.
